End Of Day

This last Thursday I spent the evening at Cape Kiwanda for sunset. There were less clouds in the sky than I would have liked but enough to give me some nice color along the horizon. Also, this was much different than my last trip here. The wind was calm and the waves less intimidating which allowed me to get closer to the water without fear of being sucked out to sea. I really enjoy the warm sun lit rocks in the foreground on this photo. Being close to summer solstice this moment was not captured until close to 9:15. I know for Alaska folks that is nothing but late for the last light here in Oregon!

Kimberly & Anthony

The clouds rolled in with a few drops of rain, thunder and lighting but it really turned out to be not much of a storm which allowed us to get the engagement session done without getting soaked. Although I would have gladly photographed them in a downpour of rain. I am a born and breed Oregonian so you can't let that stop you too much.

Email from the bride after this session:
Hi Adrian! What a surprise to have the slideshow in my inbox today! ...... You're quick! I appreciate you doing all of this for us! The pictures looked great! My mom said "if he did this good on these pictures, imagine what the wedding is going to look like!"

Kimberly and Anthony are getting married on 7/5 at the Governor Hotel downtown. Normally we don't do engagement sessions this close to the wedding yet we made the exception since they just flew in from New York today. We are very much looking forward to their wedding next Saturday! And of course we had a lot of fun with them downtown in The Pearl District with this shoot.

The Under 3 Crowd

To be a part of this motley crew you have to show your ID. Age three and under only! Seriously, this was a fun shot. This is from a recent get together at our friend's Chris and Traci. Four couple friends, including Molly and I, all have little ones that are 2 1/2 and younger. It's a lot of fun letting them play together. Now was it easy to get them all sitting there looking at the camera, of course not. Yet a little bit of patience goes a long way... This scene lasted seconds but we caught it for all to enjoy.

Testing 1-2-3, Testing

I had a lens come back all repaired from Canon and needed to take a minute to test it out before it goes back to real use in the field or clients. My daughter decided to join me out front and catch some harsh morning rays. Such a big girl now sitting their with new duck Teva's, which she loves. The lens passed the test by the way.

PPO In Bend

This last weekend Molly, Rowan and I travelled to bend for a conference with Professional Photographers of Oregon (PPO). They are a great group of my peers and we always enjoy these outings which are mostly continuing ed but some vacation too. Molly and Rowan spent time by the pool and soaking up the sun. Here are a few images from the PPO Shootout we did on Sunday evening. Emily Andrews is a photographer friend of ours expecting her first baby this fall. She was nice enough to pose for this photo which we all got a good laugh out of!

Heart Of The Pearl

We recently photographed Juan and Lara's wedding, a few photos of that event are also on our blog. Besides the wedding they also wanted some photos of them around Portland. This last Saturday we had the opportunity to walk around the Pearl in NW Portland for over two hours taking some fun photos of them at various places. Juan, like most guys at the start of a session, was a little tense but loosened up as we got going. We had a real good time and captured some great moments of them interacting and relaxing together. These photos will be a great to have to remember this time for many years to come. We wish them all the best!

High Surf Advisory

I spent a couple days at the central OR coast earlier this week. The first evening I was meet with bright blue skies when I arrived which quickly clouded over but still left me a nice sunset at Seal Rocks. The second evening was at Cape Kiwanda. The weather had been very rainy and windy most of the day. I stuck it out and just before sunset the rain stopped. The wind was relentless yet it did not stop me from getting out and capturing these big behemoths crashing all over. Probably one of my favorite landscape images so far in 2008. I am naming it 'Hypnotize' for the hypnotic wave movement. Enjoy!

This last Saturday we did the engagement session for Jessica and Aaron. They are real fun easy going young couple and the park blocks near PSU is great place to photograph. Their wedding is on 8/9 and we really looking forward to photographing it. Sounds like it will be a great setting and real good time. Here are some images from this session.

NEW! Here their slideshow that we just added:

Landon

Landon recently had his one year session with us, here are some of my favs. Not only that but as some of you may know he is also the winner for the Extraordinary Expressions Photo Contest we ran with Spoiled Rotten in May. His Mom saw his photos from the contest and scheduled his one year session with us right away, before the voting for the contest even started! Something tells me she won't have much trouble finding an image for that 11x14 credit she has!

Lara & Juan

Molly and I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph the small and intimate ceremony of Lara and Juan. They are real nice couple and we are looking very forward to spending some time on the town with them taking additional photos this coming weekend. Here are a few images from their ceremony. We wish Lara and Juan an amazing life together!

Sunset Sweep

Last weekend I spent an evening at Indian Beach at Ecola State Park to see what the sunset would bring me. I was pleasantly rewarded with some nice waves and beautiful painterly sunset sky. I stayed on the beach until I was the last one leaving, walking back to the car by headlamp. Here are a couple of my favs. Enjoy!
